What is VoIP?
VoIP is an abbreviation for Voice over Internet Protocol – a broadband based phone system that enables you use the internet to make and receive phone. Previously you had to use analogue & digital phone lines.
What benefits are there to a VoIP Phone System?
In principle the main benefit of VoIP older systems is that it is cheaper to run, also because you are using digital technology there are extra functions available such as caller ID , voicemail, conference calls, music-on-hold, etc.
What equipment is needed?
A dedicated Broadband voice line [i.e. NOT shared with your data broadband facilities], Internet Protocol Phones or Analogue phone Adapters.
Why do I need “dedicated broadband”?
Most businesses use standard broadband for their communications i.e. internet, emails and data. This is usually shared with up to 50 other "users" at a time and can become very busy. A robust voice application would not be shared with data users and we recommend a dedicated line.
Will all my calls be FREE?
No, calls to other clients on the same service providers network are usually free and others are usually at a reduced cost. Overall your charges should be lower than previous digital or analogue systems.
Can I keep my current phone numbers?
Yes, your existing numbers can be transferred easily, this can be arranged by your VoIP Service Provider.

VoIP Service Providers are the next generation of telecoms companies, they provide interconnection between VoIP networks and traditional networks.

This depends on a number of factors including location and your specific needs and requirements as calling plans vary. Recommendations for a VoIP Service Provider are usually based on who would be best for your business. Rates vary between providers and currently prices can range from per minute charges to flat monthly bills.
